英語で学ぶTOEFL iBT®Test対策

Try to be unique!

The people who score TOEFL®Test speaking and writing answers hear and read thousands of responses. Many of those responses sound very similar.

For this reason, it is a good idea to say and write something a little bit fresh and unique. You could show them your creative side, or surprise them with an interesting personal story, or dazzle them with your excellent idiomatic language.

Don't tell jokes though; remember that the TOEFL®Test exam is testing your ability to participate in an academic setting.

One of these two examples is funny and appropriate, another gets too silly and isn't academic enough. Can you tell which is which?

1) For example, every morning when I wake up I like to brush my tongue for at least a minute. Some people think this is strange, but in fact it has been proven to be quite useful. If we take care of our teeth, why not our tongues too? Although, sometimes I am annoyed at how bad the toothpaste tastes.

2) For example, every morning when I wake up I like to eat a big piece of dirt. The worms are tasty, and I even chew on rocks sometimes! Haha, just kidding, I never eat dirt, I actually brush my teeth. Although, sometimes my baby brother will eat dirt in the garden.
